Many schools are responding to the catastrophic fire rating that is affecting communities across the state. While some schools are temporarily non-operational due to localised fires, many others in high-risk areas are non-operational as a precautionary measure. As a proactive safety measure some identified schools that have increased risk have been asked to cease operation for tomorrow Tuesday 12 November 2019. Chittaway Bay Public School is not one of those schools. CBPS is expecting to be operational tomorrow, however this situation may change pending updated advice from the RFS.
We are aware that there are conflicting media releases regarding school closures. CBPS is on a small list of schools advised that we can remain open. We will update you should this situation change.
Families should download and install the RFS – Fires Near Me NSW app and make decisions accordingly before travelling to school. Familes should also have our communication app, Skoolbag, installed on their device to ensure you receive notifications and updates.
Current advice to all of our families is that we will be open and operational on Tuesday November 12. You are welcome to make your own informed decision regarding your child's attendance at school tomorrow.
